Finding the catalyst.The question ‘why aren’t we seeing any real changes!?’ seems to resonate around our well insulated, non-toxic, eco-friendly walls. The power of design is catalytic, and as the notion of sustainability has been around for some time now, it is a question well worth asking. A rich fabric of ideas, schemes, methodologies and systems has been born from the eco-design movement. With this wealth of potential why are the replication, growth and application reaching a limited threshold? However necessary or desirable something may be, it is unlikely to obtain the necessary traction in our current economic climate unless the business community can be inspired and motivated to get behind it. How can we bridge this void and create an elegantly simple, replicable breed of environmental economics?
